Immensely popular, the Hornet was introduced in October 1984 and was the Grasshopper’s big brother, on the same chassis but with a 540 motor and lexan shell.  The Hornet has since been re-released and is available today.Tamiya Hornet

It was one of the first rc buggies about 3 years ago and i loved it! Not sure why it just had something special about it… like how the front suspensions are overly soft and just runs so smoothly :)

Another buggy I raced in the 80s, along with the Apache and the Grasshopper. I remember the first time I saw Hornets on the start line. They were absolutely ballistic!

  3. Avatar of Keith says:

The Christmas present that every kid in the ’80s wished for, I really wanted one of these as a kid. Sadly a Hornet never arrived under my Christmas tree, however when they were re-released, my wonderful wife made sure I received one as a birthday present. I have many faster buggies, but none are as meaningful as this one.
