Wonderful looking buggy in my opinion. Introduced in early 1985 (pre dates the Kyosho Optima and Tamiya Hotshot by a few months) and was sold as a competition buggy so has all the features you would expect like fully independent and adjustable suspension and a relatively light weight for an early 4WD buggy. Perhaps it’s most unusual feature, certainly at the time of it’s release is it’s belt drive system. Not only did have a belt to drive the front and rear diffs but also a belt drive from the the pinion gear to spur gear. Perhaps a bit overly complicated but it does ensure almost silent running if set up correctly.
There were two versions of the Zerda. The black cage version, which you see here, was the kit version and there was one with a red cage which was a built up version.
Both versions of the Zerda are rare so can be difficult to find one today, certainly at a reasonable price. Spares are also difficult to source which is worth thinking about if you want one to run.
Overall, a great looking, very rare and interesting buggy.
