Tamiya #57781 - 1/10XB RISING FIGHTER Ready to run

As a kid I really wanted a Hornet, as I’m sure did many kids growing up in the ’80s. I didn’t have the money for one back then, but things are different now and I have a good-sized collection of Tamiya RCs, including a Hornet (thanks to my wonderful wife, who bought me one as soon as they were re-released).
As this buggy is in many ways the spiritual successor to the original Grasshopper/Hornet, I wanted to get one to see how far the design has come in the last three decades. The answer, to me at any rate, is just far enough. The car still has all the character, toughness and ease of construction as the originals, but with modern touches like an included ESC, the facility to mount proper oil-filled shocks all round, and the ability to take modern buggy wheels and tyres.
This is the Grasshopper/Hornet of today, and I am sure that it will be on the Christmas and birthday wish-lists of many modern kids. It certainly deserves to be!
