** The Longest Crawl was successfully completed in 8 hours. 5 of the 6 Crawlers made it all the way up and all the way down again over very difficult terrain. We are also pleased to say that all 8 team members made it up and down as well, unscathed. We are now going through the process of auctioning off all of our donated parts. We are currently at £1,100.00 raised for the CLAPA charity and this will sharply rise as the auctions complete. **
Fund Raising for
Longest Crawl Update – 14th June 2011
A very big Thank You to HPI Racing for the donation of a humongous box of LiPo batteries to get our Sponsored truck to the summit of Snowdon, and to NitroFlight Models for the donation of a rather cool Fusion Charger which will go into the big Charity Auction after the event!
Longest Crawl Update – 28th May 2011
ModelSport UK have joined our League of sponsors for the Longest crawl with the kind donation of a £50 voucher which we’ve put towards an MTroniks Crawler ESC and Metal Geared Servo to help get our Sponsored GMade R1 Crawler up and Running!
Longest Crawl Update – 25th May 2011
The GMade R1 Rock Buggy arrived this morning from the very generous Fusion Hobbies. I can’t believe how heavy it is, and it’s not even got a motor, battery, servo or ESC in there yet. Plus, it’s got to be built too… which should keep us busy for a few hours!
Longest Crawl Update – 16th May 2011
Our first piece of sponsored equipment has arrived courtesy of Radio Controlled Racer Magazine and their editor Matt Benfield. It’s a brand spanking new Etronix Pulse EX3G 3 Channel 2.4Ghz radio system that will pair up nicely with the GMade R1 Rock Buggy from Fusion Hobbies!
We like to do things in style here at Iconic RC, and this one is our grandest event yet! The UK’s Biggest, and possibly the Worlds Longest, Crawl!
The brainchild of Mr Andy Kelly (@stickerbod), a team of 6 Iconic RC’ers; Dean, Andy, Kev, Chris, Justin and John, with support from Tina and Elizabeth, are heading off on a momentous crawl up none other than Mount Snowdon on June 24th 2011, all in aid of Charity!
The Charities we’re supporting are CLAPA, the Cleft Lip & Palate Association, a charity close to the site’s Co-Owner Justin, whose daughter was born with a Cleft Palate and also Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team which covers the Snowdonia area.
This ground breaking event will see the Scale RC Crawlers head off early on the Friday morning, charged batteries & spare parts at the ready, up the relentless slopes of Wales’ highest peak, Mount Snowdon. We’ve got full clearance from the relevant authorities who look after the Flora and Forna of the Snowdonia National Park and we’re starting to set the wheels in motion, literally!
We’re taking a convoy of 6 scale RC crawlers up Mount Snowdon, with the aim of getting at least one of them all the way to the summit and back down! Some will be privately owned models, however, we’re currently appealing to manufacturers, distributors, magazines and model shops for the donation of a Sponsored Crawler that we can use as our Official Longest Crawl model for the adventure. This will then be auctioned off after the event, with all proceeds going to CLAPA. We will also be appealing for spare parts and batteries which will also be auctioned off after the event with proceeds going to CLAPA.
We’ll bring you more news right here, as our plans develop, but the day itself is fast approaching, so it’s all hands on deck here to make it a very memorable event indeed!
Some great news. We have our first sponsored crawler. A Gmade R1 Rock Buggy has been kindly donated by Fusion Hobbies in the UK. http://www.fusionhobbies.com/ The R1 retails at around £239 and will make a very tidy sum for CLAPA at auction. A big thank you to Fusion Hobbies!
Also, a big thank you to Radio Control Car Racer, ModelSport UK, Signs & Graphics UK Ltd and Quaggies DirtBags for the support!
We’ll be taking along a couple of cameras too so we can capture plenty of the thrills and hopefully not too many spills as we take on this incredible challenge, so we can bring you all the highlights as soon as we possibly can… The epic crawl can also be followed here on twitter.
You can support us in our quest to conquer Mount Snowdon on the Longest Crawl by sponsoring us through our Just Giving Page. All sponsorship and donations are very much appreciated! So please do your bit and help us beat our £1000 target!
